Hey guys hows things, ok looking into getting into a series 8 rx7 now ive heard nothing but awesome things about rotors but 1 thing i really want to know about is fuel consumption.
How many kms per tank does everybody get or litres/100km with easy regular driving vs giving it a *BRAP*BRAP* here and there.
i dont really mind about how much fuel it uses as if i do make a purchase its going to be my w/end cruiser tracker my choices are either a series 8 or a 34 GTR
any help will be awesome thanks guys

wouldn't mind seeing what FD owners are actually getting either.

Standard series 4 + exhaust was 12/100
Worked 16/100 (average)
Worst 25/100 - but what a fun day :P

based this on 110km round trip 5 days a week, with around 20% highway driving, going from one side of Sydney to the other.

Stock FD's are meant to be around 13/100 combined driving, but real world is always different.

Its not as bad as what people think. It just comes down to how heavy your foot is. I have a 20B twin turbo and i can get about 12L per 100 out of it mainly because i can drive it and keep it below 2000RPM quiet comfortably. There was one day though that I was lighting both turbo's up constantly and letting each gear hit 6000RPM (in a 20B 6000RPM is pretty full on :P ) and I used 26L of petrol to go 70Km.

In saying though, regular maintenance i.e. changing plus and tuning frequently for different weather conditions will keep the fuel consumption down. It also comes down to how healthy your engine is also. So make sure that you get it properly inspected before purchase.

traffic conditions, driving style

but if you are worried about fuel.. the fd is not the car for you

got a extend ported motor full zorst, fmic needs my power-fc isntalled (still running stock ecu and runs rich) and still gets about 350-400 with the daily redlining here and there :P once i get the comp installed and tuned i should be back to 450 per 60L tank.

Mate that's a recipe for a blown motor. Get that PowerFC in there ASAP, and get it tuned. On the stock computer it'll overboost and lean out, which will crack apex seals. The stock computer doesn't run rich enough all the time, especially when the boost jumps up because of modifications.

In my FD when I bought it I drove it from Melbourne to Adelaide in 1 day, about 760km, and it used 1 and 1/4 tanks for the trip. Drove it like a granny, and didn't take it over 4000rpm..

This speaks for me too....although I can crack about 350k's to a full tank highway driving and around 250k's scootin about town or driving with a heavy foot and with fairly stock power/mods.

When i had my s3 on the road i was geting at least 450km to a tank which is about 65 to 70 litre tank.
It does depend on how you are driving the car though.
Typically long open roads obviously have a better range as there is no stopping and starting.

They're extremely rich with the factory tune, and an upgraded ECU is always a great idea.

Mine does over 400km a tank completely factory, but like any turbo car, that goes through the floor when you thrash. I did 330 out of the tank when thrashing.

you get 400+ on average on a fairly stock one... gets a little better if you have it tuned properly with light mods :)

What sort of fuel consumption can i expect from a 1JZ VVTi with a 3" exhaust and stock everything else.

Any ideas?
